HAPPY NEW YEAR
2014 is almost here. I love New Years. I always make resolutions. Sure they are often the same–eat less, exercise more, make better use of my time– but to me it feels like a chance to start over.
I actually get excited about how I can use the New Year as a set point to get on track. I recall one year I resolved to never let a 15 minute period pass without accomplishing at least one thing even if it was only to put something away. It was one of the best choices I made. (Mind you, I’m not quite so deliberate about it any more.)
There’s a difference between resolutions and wishes. If I could make wishes come true, I would wish for power to be restored to those down east who have been off the grid for over a week (shiver). I would wish for peace in the middle east and for warm shelter for those displaced. I would wish for a cure for cancer and hatred.
On a personal level, I would wish for winged fingers, a way to convert blood into ink (based on quote ‘Writing is easy. You just open a vein and bleed.’ Not sure of the source and didn’t look it up.) I would wish also for a more successful way of getting the story inside my head into words.
How about you? Do you like the New Year and resolutions? Have you made resolutions that made a difference in your life?
